Buy Postage Online & Drop Off in Rochdale
Pay for your postage at home, then drop the parcel off with us. Buy through Post Office Parcels Online for Royal Mail, Evri or DPD, print the label yourself, or bring an eligible print-in-branch QR code and we will print the label at the counter. No appointment needed, and we are open seven days a week.
No printer at home? If your booking provides an eligible print-in-branch QR code, bring it on your phone and we can print the label at the counter. See the three-step guide.

Choose how to buy your postage
There is more than one way to pay for postage before you come in. All of them end the same way — you bring the parcel to our counter and we accept it.
| How you buy | What you get | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Post Office Parcels Online | Royal Mail, Evri and DPD services in one place. Live prices are shown when you get a quote. | Book and pay on Post Office Parcels Online, then bring the label or QR code in. |

A note on prices and services
Online prices, services and carrier choices are set by Post Office Ltd and the carriers, not by the branch, and they can change. The prices on this page were correct when it was last reviewed — always check the live price when you book.
Important: do not guess, under-declare or use vague descriptions such as “gift” or “clothes”. Give an honest, specific description, quantity and value. Customs authorities and the destination country decide any duties, taxes, restrictions or delivery outcomes.

-
Book and pay online
Buy your postage on Parcels Online, Click & Drop, or in a marketplace app. Pick your service, size and weight, and pay.
-
Bring an eligible QR code
If your confirmation email contains an eligible Post Office print-in-branch or Royal Mail Labels to Go QR code, and Gale Street Post Office is shown as a drop-off point, show it on your phone at the counter — nothing needs printing at home.
-
We scan and print it
We scan the code and print an eligible label. Follow the label or booking instructions and attach it to your parcel — for Royal Mail Labels to Go you attach the label yourself — then hand the parcel over and we will give you a proof of postage receipt.
Royal Mail Labels to Go QR codes cover most Royal Mail services, but not Parcelforce services, not Tracked 24 or Tracked 48 with Age Verification, and not international services where the item value is over £270. If your service is not eligible, print the label at home before you come in. The full list is in Royal Mail’s Labels to Go rules.
Sizes, weights and restrictions
Post Office Parcels Online covers parcels up to 1 metre on the longest side, in weight bands up to 1kg, 1–2kg, 2–5kg and over 5kg. If your parcel falls outside the online booking options, check with us before you pay; service limits and acceptance criteria apply. Some items cannot be posted at all, and others need special handling, so please ask before you buy the postage if you are unsure.
Royal Mail UK and international items: Check the official Royal Mail size and weight guidance — UK and international. Royal Mail, other carriers and Post Office Parcels Online can have different limits, so confirm the selected service during booking.
Sending abroad? Customs details for Post Office Parcels Online are completed during the booking journey, so follow the on-screen steps and the official guidance for your destination country. Our customs forms page explains what is needed.

1. The parcel, packed and sealed
Pack it properly and seal it before you arrive. We cannot accept an open parcel, and we do not repack items at the counter.
2. Your label or QR code
Either the printed label already attached to the parcel, or the QR code from your confirmation email on your phone.
3. The recipient’s full address
Keep the full address and postcode to hand in case anything needs checking or reprinting while you are here.

I have no printer — can you print my label?
Yes, where your booking, retailer or carrier provides an eligible Post Office print-in-branch or Royal Mail Labels to Go QR code and Gale Street Post Office is offered as a drop-off point. Bring the QR code on your phone and we will scan it and print an eligible label at the counter. Follow the label or booking instructions and attach the label to your parcel before you hand it over. What is Drop & Go, and do I need it?

When is the last time I can post for next-day delivery?
The Royal Mail Special Delivery next-day guarantee cut-off is 16:45 Monday–Friday and 11:45 Saturday. Later Saturday acceptance may be available, but next-day delivery is not guaranteed after the cut-off.
