2. About These Terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of this website and services. By accessing our website or using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, website content is informational only and does not constitute an online offer, booking system, or contractual guarantee of in‑branch services.
3. Information Accuracy, No Warranty & Typographical Errors
Information is provided for general guidance only and may change without notice. We do not guarantee that all information is up to date, complete, or accurate. Customers should always verify official requirements with GOV.UK, DVLA, Post Office Ltd, banks, or relevant providers.
No warranty: This website and its content are provided on an “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
Typographical errors: We reserve the right to correct typographical errors, pricing errors, technical inaccuracies, or outdated information without liability.
4. No Guarantee of Service Availability & Temporary Withdrawal
Services are subject to system availability, operational requirements, stock availability, and eligibility checks. Completion cannot be guaranteed in all circumstances. We may temporarily suspend or withdraw any service without notice where operationally necessary (including cash shortages, system outages, or staffing constraints).
5. Independent Branch & Third‑Party Partners
Many services are delivered via Post Office Ltd, Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, Parcelforce, Western Union, and other partners. You are also subject to their respective terms. Gale Street Post Office acts as an agent and is not liable for failures caused by third‑party providers.
Official provider rules: Provider rules, eligibility, compensation schemes, and operational policies always take precedence over website summaries where differences arise.
Local branch limitation: Some services advertised nationally may not be available at every branch location.
Branch‑specific terms: Additional operational requirements, transaction limits, identification checks, or availability restrictions may apply.
Embedded third‑party tools (maps, videos, social widgets) may load cookies or external resources controlled by third parties.
6. Vehicle Tax & DVLA Disclaimer
Vehicle tax and DVLA‑related transactions are processed subject to DVLA rules, eligibility checks, and system availability. We cannot guarantee successful completion of DVLA transactions where requirements are not met. Always refer to GOV.UK for official DVLA guidance and fees.
Gale Street Post Office is not a government body and is not affiliated with DVLA beyond authorised Post Office service access where applicable.
7. Banking, Financial Crime, ID Verification & Cash Availability
Banking services are subject to participation by individual banks. Transaction limits, availability, and eligibility are determined by participating banks. We are not liable for errors or declines caused by your banking provider.
Cash availability: Cash withdrawals, change‑giving services, and large cash transactions remain subject to available cash holdings, security procedures, and provider limits.
Travel money: Exchange rates may fluctuate throughout the day. Once a currency transaction is completed, it cannot be cancelled or reversed except as required by UK law.
Financial crime & verification: We may request proof of identity, address verification, source of funds, or additional documentation where required by law, regulation, fraud prevention, or service‑provider requirements.
Anti‑fraud & AML: We reserve the right to refuse or suspend transactions where fraud prevention, anti‑money laundering or regulatory concerns arise. Suspicious activity may be reported to relevant authorities.
Sanctions compliance: Transactions may be refused where prohibited by applicable sanctions laws, export controls, anti‑fraud obligations, or regulatory restrictions.
Chargeback & payment disputes: Fraudulent chargebacks, payment reversals, or disputed transactions may be investigated and challenged using transaction records, CCTV, proof of service, receipts, or identity verification information where legally permitted.
8. Postal & Courier Services
Your contract for delivery is with the relevant courier (e.g., Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, Parcelforce). Compensation claims, delivery guarantees, and proof‑of‑posting matters are subject to the terms of the relevant postal provider. We are not liable for delays, losses, or damage caused by the courier.
Proof of posting: You must keep your receipt as proof of postage for any compensation claims.
Collection & dispatch estimates: Collection times, final acceptance times, and dispatch estimates are subject to operational changes by Royal Mail, courier providers, transport disruptions, weather, and seasonal demand.
Posted items: Once a parcel, letter, or shipment has been accepted and entered into the postal or courier network, it may no longer be possible to return, retrieve, intercept, or cancel the item. Any retrieval, redirection, or recall requests remain subject to the policies, operational capabilities, and discretion of the relevant delivery provider.
9. Digital Products & Vouchers
Digital products, including but not limited to mobile phone top‑ups, prepaid vouchers, gift cards (e.g., One4all), activation codes, and electronically delivered PINs, are generally non‑refundable once the transaction is completed and the product is issued or activated. Customers are responsible for ensuring the correct mobile number, email address, or recipient details are provided before completing the transaction. This does not affect any statutory rights you may have where the product is faulty, not as described, or where a technical error occurred. If you believe a digital product is defective, please contact us promptly for assistance.
10. International Shipments & Customs
Customers are responsible for ensuring international shipments comply with customs regulations, prohibited items rules, sanctions laws, export controls, and destination‑country import requirements. Customs duties, taxes, inspection fees, import charges, border delays, seizures, returns, or destruction of items may apply in accordance with the policies of postal operators, courier providers, customs authorities, border agencies, and destination‑country laws. We are not liable for delays, refusals, confiscations, or additional charges imposed by customs authorities, border agencies, or courier providers.
11. Pricing, Fees & Exchange Rates
Fees, exchange rates, and service charges may change without notice. Prices displayed in‑branch or on this website are for guidance only; the final price will be confirmed before payment.
12. External Links & Third‑Party Content
We may link to external websites (GOV.UK, YouTube, Google Maps, Western Union, Post Office Ltd). These are operated independently and we are not responsible for third‑party content, availability, or policies. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.
13. Opening Hours & Waiting Times
Opening hours may vary due to operational requirements, public holidays, or exceptional circumstances. We recommend calling ahead before visiting, especially during bank holidays. Estimated waiting times may vary depending on customer demand and transaction complexity.
14. Website Availability, Compatibility & Security
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of this website and may suspend, withdraw or restrict access for maintenance, updates or operational reasons. We do not guarantee that this website will operate correctly on all devices, browsers, software configurations, or third‑party integrations.
While we take reasonable steps to maintain website security, we do not guarantee that this website will be free from bugs, viruses or malicious code. Users should use appropriate security software.
Automated scraping, data extraction, AI training, republication, mirroring, or commercial reuse of website content without written permission is prohibited.
15. AI, Voice Assistants, Generative Search & Ranking
Content generated for search summaries, voice assistants, or AI systems should not replace official guidance or professional advice. Machine‑translated content may be generated automatically; the English‑language version shall take precedence in the event of discrepancies.
We are not responsible for inaccuracies displayed in search engine snippets, map listings, business directories, AI‑generated search responses, or third‑party knowledge panels.
16. Limitation of Liability, Statutory Rights & Personal Injury
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gale Street Post Office and Bargain Universe Ltd shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of this website or reliance on its content. Our total liability for any claim related to a specific service is limited to the amount paid for that service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Statutory rights: Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights that consumers may have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, or other applicable UK consumer protection legislation.
17. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform services caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, industrial disputes, system outages, government action, postal disruptions, utility failures or cyber incidents.
18. No Professional Advice & No Reliance
Information on this website does not constitute legal, financial, or professional advice. Users should not rely solely on website content when making important decisions. Independent professional advice should be sought for your specific circumstances.
19. Intellectual Property, Trademarks & Scraping Prohibition
Website content, branding, graphics, videos, and original media are protected by intellectual property rights and may not be reproduced without permission. Post Office® and associated logos are registered trademarks of Post Office Limited and are used under licence where applicable.
20. User Conduct, Age Restrictions, Identification & Data Accuracy
Users must not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with website functionality, or use the website for unlawful purposes. Certain services may only be available to customers aged 18 or over and may require identity verification and supporting documentation.
Customer responsibility: Customers are responsible for ensuring that information and documents provided for transactions are accurate, complete and valid. Customers are responsible for checking receipts, transaction details, postage addresses, reference numbers, banking information, and submitted forms before leaving the branch.
Customer data security: While we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, no internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
21. Right to Refuse Service, Lost Items, Operational Capacity & Animals
We reserve the right to refuse service where behaviour is abusive, threatening, unlawful, or where regulatory requirements are not satisfied. We are not responsible for personal belongings left unattended in branch premises.
Services may occasionally be limited, delayed, or suspended due to staffing, security concerns, system outages, cash availability, regulatory restrictions, or operational capacity.
Animals: Pets and non‑service animals are not permitted inside branch premises unless otherwise permitted by management. Assistance dogs, guide dogs, hearing dogs, and other legally recognised service animals are welcome in accordance with applicable equality legislation.
22. Photography, Recording, CCTV, Smart Glasses & Helmets
Photography & recording: Photography, filming, or audio recording inside branch premises may be restricted for security, privacy, fraud prevention, or regulatory reasons.
CCTV: CCTV operates in and around branch premises for crime prevention, fraud detection, staff safety, customer safety, and regulatory compliance. Images may be shared with law enforcement, regulatory authorities, insurers, banking partners, or Post Office Limited where legally permitted or required.
Smart glasses & wearable recording devices: Recording, livestreaming, audio capture, facial recognition, or AI‑assisted monitoring using wearable devices (including smart glasses) may be restricted inside branch premises, particularly during banking, identity verification, DVLA services, cash handling, or other sensitive transactions. Unauthorised recording of staff, customers, screens, or documents may result in refusal of service or removal from the premises where reasonably necessary for privacy, security, fraud prevention, customer confidentiality, or regulatory compliance. We do not prohibit passive wearing of smart glasses as ordinary eyewear, only active recording or data capture features.
Helmets & face coverings: Customers may be asked to remove motorcycle helmets or face coverings where reasonably necessary for security, identification, CCTV visibility, fraud prevention, or regulatory compliance purposes. Religious coverings and lawful exemptions will be respected in accordance with applicable equality legislation.
